Lincoln-Sudbury Boys Lacrosse
Tournament Team Program
The schedule for the tournament teams is made up from three main sources:
- Town Pride League
- NY and CT Border War Jams
- Regional tournaments
The Town Pride League schedule is built around games on Friday nights and Saturday during the day. The Town Pride League is comprised of a number of towns that also have more competitive teams grouped by school grade.
Borde War events are typically scheduled with teams top programs from CT and NY like New Cannaan, Ridgefield, Greenwich, John Jay, and Yorktown. They will be at LS and two other programs from the TPL will also be involved.
The tournament teams will also participate in tournaments. We typically attend only one weekend-long, out-of-town tournament. In prior years, we have gone to the Saratoga, NY tournament. Starting this year, we will instead be attending the Golden Goal Tournament in Lake George, NY. We also attend more local tournaments like the UMass, Southington, CT, and Choate School, CT tournaments.
All boys wishing to play on a Lincoln-Sudbury tournament team should be registered for both the general program and one of the tryout sessions. If you are selected to one of these teams, we will then collect the additional tournament team fees by check.
CHOOSING BETWEEN LOCALLY SCHEDULED TEAMS & TOURNAMENT TEAMS
The best advice we can give you is to make this choice based on level of interest in lacrosse more than level of skill in lacrosse. So many things will change for boys at this age over the next two to four years that one's skill as a 4th grader has little to do with one's skill as a senior in high school. But, the schedule of the tournament teams over the next few years is going to give any boy who really does love lacrosse the best opportunity to maximize his own personal path of improvement.
The Travel / Tournament teams are more competitive teams for our 6th 7th and 8th graders. Players selected to these teams have chosen lacrosse as their primary spring sport. This program will see more travel to play other competitive teams in other towns/states as well as travel to tournaments. The goal of the development teams is to still provide an appropriate level of lacrosse while also giving players the opportunity to continue to participate in other activities during the spring season.
